Nice-to-Meet-You Apronbag
Nice-to-Meet-You Apronbag was made while I was in Ceramics department for Studio Swap Project. A part of the Studio Swap Project is a simulation of semi-nomadic life: moving into an unfamiliar place, trying to assimilate into the existing culture while knowing that you’ll always be an outsider.
I noticed that people in Ceramics department wear aprons all the time. As a part of simulation process, I created an apron suitable to my job, which was to get to know people and the new context. Nice-to-Meet-You Apronbag is an apron and a bag, which contains a thermos, cups, and small dishes, sugar, napkin and other things necessary for a tea party. With this, I went around the studios, had a cup of tea with people, and got to know them. It serves as a device to set up a situation for socializing and explores mechanisms of multi-functional objects.
